The images were captured from a distance of over one kilometer from the Oriol thermal power plant.
“The attack was carried out using a reactive weapon, either a missile or a drone with a jet engine. In the videos, there are no air raid sirens, no noises from air defense systems and no characteristic buzzing of a drone,” said the Astra channel's OSINT analyst.
“Specialists are working on site. Recovery efforts will begin on the light. Please remain calm. All essential systems are operating normally,” regional governor Alexander Avdeiev said.
The plant is in a very bad condition, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Combating Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, wrote on Telegram, quoted by Ukrinform.
Oriol is the most important source of electricity and heat generation in the region.
According to Radio Liberty, on the night of November 5, the Ukrainians also attacked the energy infrastructure in the city of Vladimir.
Less than one kilometer from the Oriol thermal power plant is the Oreltehnmaș defense enterprise, which produces mobile maintenance, repair and evacuation vehicles for the army.
The Russian Defense Ministry said 40 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight in several regions: Voronezh, Rostov, Kursk, occupied Crimea, Briansk, Belgorod and Oryol.
Less than a week ago, the Ukrainian Navy announced that it had struck the Orel Thermal Power Plant (CTE) with domestically produced Neptun cruise missiles. The announcement followed reports of fires breaking out at the facility.
