More than 50 Ukrainian drones attacked the Lukoil refinery in the city of Kstovo, about 450 km east of Moscow; This is one of the leading such plants that supplies fuel to the entire region of the Russian capital, Ukrainian media reported on Tuesday, citing sources in the secret services.


The attack occurred on the night of November 3-4. It was attended by drone operators of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense (HUR), the Armed Forces and the Special Operations Forces. The target was the Lukoil-Nizhegorodneftieorgsintez refinery in Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
“More than fifty Ukrainian-made drones were used during the operation, including Bober (beaver) and FP-1,” wrote the Interfax-Ukraina agency.
“According to sources, the attack was carried out during the renovation of the rectification column, responsible for the primary processing of crude oil, which was damaged as a result of previous attacks. (…) The recordings published by Russian users (social networking sites – PAP) show a bright glow over the refinery, and explosions and subsequent fire at the plant were also recorded,” the agency added.
She explained that Lukoil-Nizhegorodneftieorgsintez is one of the leading refineries in Russia and supplies, among others, Moscow region, which accounts for approximately 30 percent gasoline consumption in the country. The nominal oil processing capacity is approximately 17 million tons per year. The company produces over 50 types of products: automotive gasoline, aviation fuel and diesel oil, as well as petroleum bitumen, paraffins and other products.
“The refinery's products are actively used by the Russian occupation forces and the Russian defense industry,” Interfax-Ukraine reported.
