The last leaves have fallen off, and it seems that the time for planting has passed forever. But right now is the very moment when you can ensure the earliest and brightest spring. While the neighbors have long closed their summer season, I go out to the flower beds with tulip bulbs. This proven method allows you not only to get flowering 2-3 weeks earlier than usual, but also to grow incredibly strong, healthy flowers.
Why is late boarding an advantage?
When you plant tulips in September-October, they often have time to germinate before frost and then suffer from winter cold. November planting is an ideal time: the bulbs will have time to take root, but will not begin to grow until spring. They will undergo natural stratification, harden and produce powerful shoots.
How to plant correctly in November:
- Wait until the soil temperature is stable +3…+5°C
- Planting depth – three bulb heights
- At the bottom of the hole – a handful of sand for drainage
- The distance between the bulbs is 10-15 cm
- Be sure to mulch with peat or humus
What does it give:
- Sprouts appear immediately after the snow melts
- The stems grow strong and are not blown away by the wind.
- Flowers bloom 2-3 weeks earlier
- Bulbs are less affected by fungal diseases
While your neighbors' first sprouts are just sprouting, your tulips will already be gaining color. Strong, bright, with elastic stems – they will become the main decoration of the garden at a time when other flowers are just waking up.
