Netflix and boxing promotion company Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) have announced that the boxing match between Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis, originally scheduled for Friday, November 14, will no longer take place, Variety reports.

The event, which was to take place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, had been planned to be streamed live worldwide on Netflix. MVP has made it clear that he still plans to put together a main event bout for Jake Paul — the digital influencer turned professional boxer — sometime in 2025, also to be streamed on Netflix.

A year ago, Netflix broadcast Paul's fight against Mike Tyson live, which broke viewership records and reached an estimated 108 million viewers per minute worldwide. According to the streaming company, the Paul-Tyson showdown was the most-watched sporting event ever broadcast on the platform.

The Netflix website went down several times during the game and experienced technical difficulties even before the game due to the huge number of viewers.

Why Netflix Canceled Jake Paul's New Game

The announcement of the cancellation of the Paul-Davis match comes after Davis was indicted last week in a new case of alleged domestic violence.

ESPN reported that ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel has accused Davis in a civil lawsuit of assault, battery, deprivation of liberty, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Calvin Ford, Davis' trainer, told USA Today that the boxer's lawsuit was “bullshit” and called the athlete “very good.”

“Everything is fine. That's why we're trying to find out what's going on,” he added.

Davis had previously been accused in a separate case of domestic violence by another ex-girlfriend. That case was closed in August. According to CBS News, Davis is currently on probation after pleading guilty to fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run accident in 2020.
