Petrolul and FC Botoșani ended in a tie, score 0-0, in the last match of the Superliga championship round. The fabulous series of the Moldovans, of 6 consecutive victories, stopped in Ploiesti, but the band of Leo Grozavu (58 years old) remains the leader at the end of the tour.
Botosani missed the chance to get all three points in the 79th minute, when Mitrov wasted a penalty. The penalty kick had been awarded after a foul by Anestis on Kovtaliuk, a phase analyzed over three minutes by VAR.
At the end of the game, central defender Andrei Miron (31 years old) analyzed the draw and talked about the team's form.
“We controlled the game, we had possession and Petrolul completed their mission. I think they are happy with the draw, they collected well in defence.
It's not a problem to be angry with Mitrov, it happens that you miss the penalty. In the end, we won a point away from home, we didn't score a goal and it's a good morale for us”, declared Miron at the end.
Andrei Miron considers it premature to think about the title: “It's too early to talk about the title, but we want the play-off”
The Moldovan defender says the team is confident, but remains realistic about the goals.
“There is a lot to talk about the title, I would be naive to say that we don't want the play-off. The objective was to save ourselves from relegation, and after we enter the play-offs we will also think about the European cups.
I don't know what I would have said at the beginning of the season if someone had told me we were fighting for first place, but I was sure we would have a good championship. The group came together very well, most of the players are from last year”, added Miron.
The central defender also spoke about the junior starting in the premiership:
“We have strength in the team, when someone comes from the bench you can't see the difference. We have Ilaș's injury, but I want to congratulate our junior (No. Răzvan Creț), who was very good in the first match as a starter.”
Botoșani is the autumn champion
FC Botoșani remains the leader in the Superliga, with 32 points, tied with Rapid, but with a higher goal difference and finishes the championship round in first place.
Petrol occupies 12th place, with 14 points, at the end of a difficult tour.
