Leo Grozavu (58 years old), the coach of this season's revelation of the Super League, FC Botoșani, is thinking about retiring from coaching, as he announced in a dialogue with journalists from the local press. Grozavu wants to spend more time with his family, and that's why he's considering putting a “stop”.

With Grozavu at the helm, FC Botoșani is having a dream season. The Moldovan team is one of the pleasant surprises of this season, being at the top of the ranking after the season tour. The team has 31 points and has the chance to finish the 15 stages of the Superliga first, depending on the result of tonight's match with Petrolul, scheduled in Ploiesti, from 20:30.

Leo Grozavu is thinking about retirement

Leo Grozavu would like to be closer to his family, move to Cluj and spend more time with his grandson, and that is precisely why he believes that the moment of retirement is approaching.

The only option that would make him come back from the road and stay in football would be a commitment with a big team.

“I don't bring my family where I train. Since I started in 2003, my family no longer accompanies me. My wife comes when she can, especially when we have home matches, she constantly drives from Cluj, quite unpleasant on the country's roads. They protect me because it would be difficult for me to go all the way to Cluj and come back immediately. I want to stay connected to mine.

The last time at home was during the break of the championship, when I had two days off. I had to go further. At the next interruption the wife will come. She works but will take time off to come. My wife really enjoys what I do.

She knows football is what keeps me going. He never told me to stop. When I say stop, she'll probably be very happy. I'm getting closer. If I didn't have the chance to coach a big club in Romania, and the chance will be smaller in the future, no more… I want to log out. I have a grandson that I want to see grow up in different conditions than I saw my son.

My son kind of grew up without me and it's my mea culpa, which I do to myself, unfortunately much too late. And I wish that at least my grandson, I hope there will be others, grow up closer to me”, said Leo Grozavu, in an interview for Botoșaneanul TV.
