Romanian under investigation after kidnapping his ex-girlfriend on a highway in Austria. The announcement of the police from Mures

A 28-year-old man from the town of Lechința is accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend on a highway in Linz, according to the statements made on Saturday by the Mureș County Police Inspectorate, which said that they are currently in the custody of the Hungarian authorities, reports Agerpres.

The Mureș Criminal Investigation Service was notified ex officio on Saturday.

“Austrian authorities sent information to IPJ Sibiu regarding the fact that, on May 1, 2026, during the evening, a 26-year-old young man reported to the Austrian police that his girlfriend, of the same age, was kidnapped by his ex-partner while she was on a highway in Linz,” said IPJ Mureș.

The checks showed that the ex-boyfriend of the woman, domiciled in Lechința, “is the subject of a provisional protection order, valid from April 28, 2026 to May 3, 2026, by which he is obliged not to approach the victim or her home”, stated IPJ Mureș.

A criminal case of deprivation of liberty has been opened, and the authorities are continuing their investigations to establish exactly all the circumstances in which the act took place.

According to the Mures police, the kidnapped woman and her ex-boyfriend are currently in the custody of the Hungarian authorities, and the necessary measures will be taken.
