Two British citizens detained in connection with the train attack. New information


Those arrested are a 32-year-old black Briton and a 35-year-old British citizen of Caribbean origin. The men were charged with attempted murder.

Police representative John Loveless said that ten people were taken to hospital immediately after the incident, and then another one turned herself in late in the evening. Of the nine injured who suffered serious injuries as a result of the attack, four have already been discharged from hospital and two remain in a life-threatening condition.

At this stage there is no indication that this was a terrorist incident – emphasized the policeman, adding that at this stage of the investigation “there is no point in speculating on the causes of this incident.”

Police revealed that armed officers boarded the train at Huntingdon station and arrested two suspects within eight minutes of the first calls from passengers to the emergency number 999.

Statement by the British Monarch

King Charles III and Queen Camila issued a statement on Sunday expressing sympathy for the victims of the attack and gratitude to the emergency services.

“My wife and I were truly horrified and shocked to learn of the horrific knife attack that took place on a train in Cambridgeshire last night.” – wrote the British monarch.

British Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood confirmed on Sunday on its X channel that the investigation into the train attacks is ongoing. She expressed her thanks to police officers and emergency services who “responded immediately, with the highest professionalism, thanks to which they saved the lives” of many people. She also paid tribute “exceptionally brave railway workers and train passengers.”

Knife attack on a British train

A series of knife attacks took place on Saturday evening on a train that left at 18.25 local time (7.25 p.m. Polish time) from Doncaster station in the north of Great Britain. His destination was King's Cross in London.

Security forces were called around 19.45 and intervened at the station in Huntingdon, where according to the timetable the train was not supposed to stop.
