“In the context of the presidential elections and the fact that Romania has a new president, Nicușor Dan, is increasingly discussed about the need for early parliamentary elections. As a result, Sociopol conducted a survey after the elections (the period of data collection: May 26 – 28), let's see how we stand with the political vote“, Said the sociologist Mirel Palada, director Sociopol, in a Facebook post.
According to the study, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold) would get the most votes, winning in a detached way.
“Gold dominates the Romanian political landscape copiously, with 36%.SD begins to decrease below the symbolic level of 20%: 17%. The PNL and USR presidential parties do not benefit from Nicușor Dan's victory. PNL is only at 14%, USR only at 12%”, Stated the director Sociopol.
UDMR would get at 6%, and SOS Romania and may not pass 3%.
“Sovereign parties can and SOS Romania decreased strongly, 3%, respectively 2%. The sovereign vote focuses around Gold. The other small parties clearly below 5%, residual levels“, Added the sociologist.

The survey was conducted between 26 and 28 May 2025, on a sample of 1,001 cases, by the method of telephone interviews. The survey is representative of the adult population with residence in Romania and has an error margin of +/- 3.2%.
The Sociopol survey Institute is headed by Mirel Palada, a former spokesman in the Ponta government.
Traian Basescu recently said that he does not believe in the scenario of early elections. The former president believes that Nicușor Dan must remain neutral in relation to all parties and that he will have a mandate without big problems.
“There will be no early elections and I could hear an evaluation and that over 2 years it will be the president's suspension. I don't believe this either. (..) I don't think we'll have a suspended president over 2 years”, Said Traian Basescu, on May 25.
