U Cluj – FCSB 0-2. Cristiano Bergodi (61 years old), the coach of the hosts, offered the first reaction after the failure at “Cluj Arena”. He talked about elimination of Alessandro Murgia (29 years old) from the 39th minute, that was the moment he felt he would lose.
The Italian saw two yellow cards in an interval of 3 minutes, at 1-0 for FCSB, and Cluj did not put up any resistance.
Even in this context, he had nothing to reproach his students with. The Italian believes that “U” played quality football in the first 30 minutes, had more chances, but was “charged” by Olaru in the 32nd minute.
Cristiano Bergodi, statements after U Cluj – FCSB 0-2: “I have a lot of work to do and I want to restore this team”
It was the first setback in Bergodi's tenure, who is only thinking about how to revitalize the team, which is at risk of missing out on qualifying for the play-offs.
“I didn't see the elimination phase well, honestly, with all due respect. I looked at the ball and I didn't see what Murgia did. The match there is over, because when you play against a team of this quality, who walk you all over the pitch, it's very, very difficult.
I have nothing to blame the players, because we started the match well. Until the 31st minute, when I got the goal, when I did something that is not right. I left Olaru alone.
I had opportunities, it seemed to me that I could play on an equal footing with them. I had more opportunities than them until then: Lukic, Macalou, Capradossi… Unfortunately, they had an opportunity through Cisotti. It was a playable match, even to win, as we started. But I have nothing to complain about them.
That was it, unfortunately the match was over after this negligence by Alessandro and that was it. The boys came on, played well, in the first half hour. FCSB has quality, it's hard without the ball.
We tried to keep the result, then another mistake came with the second goal. I liked how they entered the field. We looked good in the first 30 minutes,” Bergodi said on Digi Sport 1.
I didn't look at the ranking. I have a lot of work to do and I want to get this team back on track.
I have a united group, a good, quality group. A valuable lot and I want to do a good job. I am not discouraged. I'm used to it, no problem.
