It was previously reported that the explosion could have occurred due to the detonation of a car near the store, the media notes. Investigators are checking for technical defects in the vehicle or the presence of flammable materials.

The municipality of Hermosillo canceled all holiday events for the Day of the Dead, in particular the VII Traditional Festival and the Catherine Parade competition, as a sign of solidarity with the victims, the authors of the article noted.

Among the dead were six men, nine women, four boys and three girls, but official data is still being clarified, Ecelsior reported.

Governor Alfonso Durazo, in a post on social media X, expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and added that the state government will provide all necessary assistance to the victims and their families. He also ordered all necessary investigations to be carried out.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo also expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in the store fire and instructed Mexican Interior Minister Rosi Isely Rodriguez to send a support team to help.
