Drones over a military airport in Belgium. The Minister of Defense is sounding the alarm

Kleine Brogel Air Base is a military airfield of the Belgian Air Component, located east of Kleine-Brogel, in the commune of Peer, Belgium. It is the headquarters of the Belgian 10th Tactical Wing, which operates F-16 Fighting Falcons. The Belgian portal HLN reminds that “Kleine Brogel is a particularly sensitive area because nuclear weapons are stored there and will soon become a base for F-35 fighter jets.”

Theo Francken reported the disturbing incident that took place on All Saints' Day. “I called the mayor of Peer. We will meet with the local police next week to analyze the threat and take the necessary steps to find and arrest the drone pilots,” the politician wrote.
“The document on drones is ready; an inter-ministerial meeting is scheduled for Tuesday and a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday. We urgently need more CUAS instruments. Flying drones over military areas is strictly prohibited. The Ministry of Defense must do everything in its power to shoot down these drones,” concluded Theo Francken.
Drones over Western European airports
This is another case where drones of unknown origin appeared over an airport in Western Europe in recent hours. Unidentified drones disrupted the operation of Berlin-Brandenburg Airport for almost two hours on Friday evening, a spokesman for the airport told AFP. He added that several flights were redirected to other German airports.
The spokesman specified that all takeoffs and landings were suspended from 20/08 to 21/58.
