“Mark Walter has a long history with our leagues, having served as a minority owner of the Lakers and as the primary owner of the Sparks in the WNBA for over a decade.” said NBA commissioner Adam Silver. “As Mark takes over as majority owner of the Lakers, I have no doubt that he will be a dedicated caretaker of the team and an asset to our league given his many successes in business and sports,” Silver added.

Founded in 1947, the Los Angeles team is one of the most successful in history. He has won 17 championship titles, second only to the Boston Celtics – 18. Third place in the all-time classification is occupied by the Golden State Warriors with seven triumphs.
The Lakers qualified for the playoffs 65 times and reached the grand final a total of 32 times. Currently, the team includes: such basketball players as LeBron James and Luka Doncic. In the past, yellow colors were worn by legends such as Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.

Mark Richard Walter, born in 1960, is an American businessman, philanthropist and CEO of Guggenheim Partners, a private, global financial services company with assets under management worth over $345 billion. He is also the CEO and co-chairman of TWG Global, an American multinational holding company. According to Forbes, Walter's net worth is $7.3 billion.
