Daily NK's source in Russia reported that “soldiers of the North Korean 2215th construction brigade were deployed in an area approximately 50 km from the Rostov Oblast.” The soldiers are to work not only on the reconstruction of roads and railway lines, but also various military facilities, including: warehouses. The brigade is to be commanded by an officer with the rank of general. Soldiers are sent to Russia through trading companies.
The specialized unit was established on the orders of Kim Jong Un in April this year. The North Korean leader's directive assumed “the development of the brigade as a model unit generating economic profit by securing foreign currency in the short term,” the source said.
