10 years have passed. Ten years of pain, shame, helplessness. Ten years since the medical system in Romania was shaken from its foundations. Why were the burn centers not started until 7 years ago? I don't know… and sometimes I can't even understand anymore. What I know for sure is that in 2022 we started them, together with the team from the Ministry of Health. I have been coordinating them for 3 years – then as secretary of state, now as minister. And it's not about me. It's about a whole team and about all those who didn't give up believing that it's possible in Romania tooa”, wrote Rogobete, in a message posted on Facebook.

The burn center from Timișoara “will be completed this year”

The Minister of Health added:

“I feel shame sometimes. A heavy shame, for carelessness and indolence. I feel pain when I see how some have looked the other way for years, while doctors and nurses sacrificed their days and nights in hospitals, holding the system on their shoulders. Doctors, nurses, stretcher-bearers – those who did their duty with their hearts, even when the state seemed to have forgotten them. I owe them my respect and that of the whole country. They kept alive the flame of hope in the Romanian health system”.

“We started building what needed to be done a long time ago”

According to the minister, today Romania has three burn centers under construction, “and the one in Timișoara will be completed this year.”

“After 10 years of waiting and shame, we started to build what should have been done a long time ago. May God rest those who left too soon. I promise them that we have not forgotten and that Romania will be able to treat the severely burned in modern centers, built with care and dignity. And yes… it is possible! Because when we believe, when we work and when we love people, Romania heals!”.
