One of the two men was detained on Saturday evening by the Border Police and the Banditry Repression Brigade (BRB), at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport.
He was preparing to board a plane to Algeria, a source close to the investigation told BFMTV.
The two men are suspected of being part of the four-person commando that broke into the premises of the famous museum and broke into the Apolo Gallery.
The authorities were looking for the four criminals, who fled with eight jewels of the French Crown, after this spectacular theft, which raises questions about the security of the most famous museum in the world.
The value of the pot is estimated at 88 million euros.
