Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated, on Antena 1, that he will respond “institutionally” to his summons to Parliament to give explanations related to the withdrawal of American troops from Romania. At the same time, the head of the Executive said that matters such as the defense of the country should not be the subject of “cheap political fights”.
“When I receive the institutional invitation, I will respond institutionally, in the coming days. I am waiting to receive the institutional invitation and I will respond institutionally, but when you have a position of responsibility in our country, there are things you don't play with. The defense of our country, the representation of our country, our major interests must be a package of problems that the responsible people remove from the area of cheap political fights to score one point or another”, Ilie Bolojan answered a question about the invitation he is going to make receive from Parliament.
“If we want to achieve maximum external results for our country, in any field, our strategic problems, and defense is one of these problems, are not transformed into a circus and into disputes that do not help at all,” continued the prime minister.
Asked if he still talks with the leader of the social democrats, Sorin Grindeanu, the prime minister answered: “I talk with all the presidents of the parties in the coalition and I have always encouraged relationships of respect and collegiality.”
Reaction from PNL to summoning the prime minister to Parliament: “Ilie Bolojan will not play in the plays written by PSD and AUR”
What the social democrats want to know from Bolojan
On Monday, November 3, PSD calls Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to Parliament, at “Prime Minister's Hour”. The request was approved on Thursday by the leadership of the Chamber of Deputies, with the vote of PSD and AUR. The reason is related to the Government's reaction to the US decision to withdraw part of the military from Romania, according to the document submitted by the Social Democrats.

The title of the debate is “Withdrawal of American troops from Romania — the Government's lack of reaction and the implications on Romania's strategic and security commitments”.
The social democrats ask the prime minister to present:
- the Government's assessment of the impact of this decision on national and regional security
- the measures taken by to maintain the commitments of the Strategic Partnership with the United States
- the mode of inter-institutional coordination between the Government, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this subject.
Also today, Sorin Grindeanu launched a new series of attacks against Ilie Bolojan, accusing, among other things, the “silence” of the Government after the decision of the United States.
“You should know that I don't know much because it's been 48 hours since it was found out, some understand that they found out at the beginning of the week, I didn't find out, I found out once with everyone, for 72 hours there's really only silence. It's silence. I don't see the foreign minister saying anything either, the defense minister said something yesterday, but I didn't understand much. The prime minister doesn't say anything”, said the interim PSD leader, when asked about the decision United States.
