“It is ten years today since the tragedy in the Collective Club, which deeply marked Romania, ending lives and changing destinies. Our thoughts go to the young people who lost their lives, to the survivors who went through moments of reflection and to all those who lost someone dear that night”. the prime minister said.
Bolojan adds that the tragedy at Colectiv “it is not just a painful memory that we have a duty not to forgetbut also a symbol of the need to increase the level of responsibility, empathy and solidarity throughout society.”
“It is a lesson about how important it is for the safety of citizens that the state makes correct laws and ensures that they are followed. It is proof that every institution must be prepared to intervene effectively in emergency situations.
The responsiveness of institutions is not only an administrative matter, but one directly related to protecting the life and safety of citizens. Unfortunately, the recent tragedy in Rahova reconfirmed these things.
The legislative changes regarding fire safety and the intervention actions taken after the fire in the Collective Club, the new procedures introduced in the medical system are insufficient”, adds Ilie Bolojan.
“The solution is not to sit on the sidelines and throw stones for fear of polls”
In this way, the prime minister emphasizes that “there are still many things to change in the way the Romanian state relates to citizens and society”.
“It is vital that this road begins with the regaining of trust, a process that we must go through together, state and society. The involvement of civil society and people with expertise and credibility in this process is very important. Responsible political attitude as well.
The solution is not to sit on the sidelines and throw stones for fear of polls, but to take correct approaches and answers to real and serious problems.
“Holding the political class and all those working in the public service to account is essential to avoid the mistakes of the past and to strengthen respect for the law in everyday life.” transmits the prime minister.
Besides Bolojan, the president Nicușor Dan laid a wreath in front of the monument at Colectiv. “In memory of the victims, we have a responsibility to change and resolve”was the condolence message written on the ribbon attached to the wreath.
The president says that, in the 10 years that have passed since the fire in the Colectiv club, there has been some progress in the area of health, but in the area of corruption “I took some steps back.”
“There is some progress in the area of health. Even though we don't have them, contracts are signed for new hospitals. We have more, anyway. Unfortunately, in the area of corruption, I think we have taken some steps back“, said Nicusor Dan, asked in an interview for Cotidianul what has changed in Romania in these 10 years.
