A few days ago, Dmitriev was in the USA, where he said that Russia, the USA and Ukraine were close to a “diplomatic solution” to end the war in Ukraine. But then he was called a “propagandist” by US Finance Minister Scott Bessent because he assured that the Russian economy was resistant to the latest US sanctions and that their result would only be higher gasoline prices in the US.

On Wednesday, Dmitriev repeated his warning that U.S. sanctions would lead to an increase in global oil prices and U.S. fuel prices, and suggested this could impact the Republican Party's performance in the congressional midterm elections.

Dmitriev is a member of Putin's negotiating team in talks with the US, along with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Putin's foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov.
