Simion promises a candidate who will defeat Ciolacu. But the suspense continues for the Capital City Hall

The leader of AUR, George Simion, stated that the formation he leads will announce on Wednesday who will be its candidate in the elections for the head of the Buzău County Council, claiming that he will “beat” the former prime minister Marcel Ciolacu. However, Simion also had a question for the party's sympathizers.
“Tomorrow (Wednesday, no) we will announce the candidate who will beat Ciolacu in Buzău. For the mayor of Bucharest, who should AUR support?”, wrote the leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, in a short message published late Tuesday evening on his Facebook page.
The party led by George Simion has a poll underway to determine the candidate for the Capital City Hall. On Monday, the leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu, claimed, in a press conference organized at the Parliament, that the AUR has not yet made a decision regarding the person who will enter the race on December 7 for the mayor of Bucharest.
“The candidate will be determined according to the statute. To the extent that the landscape of candidates is clarified. We have a survey in progress. We are waiting for the first data at the end of this week. A decision will be made based on these data as well,” said Petrișor Peiu.
“Of course it is possible to support Anca Alexandrescu. You should not be surprised by such a solution. In principle, we support the idea that the entire opposition should have a single candidate. This does not mean that we can accept any condition set. We will probably decide immediately at the beginning of next week. If she firmly announces that she is entering the campaign, that can help us make a decision. We are waiting,” Peiu added.
Who are the candidates for the Capital City Hall?
On Tuesday evening, the moderator Anca Alexandrescu from Realitatea Plus announced on Tuesday that she is entering the race for the Capital City Hall and that this will be the last week in which she will present the show she produces.
“Today (Tuesday, no) I made the decision to submit my candidacy to the Bucharest City Hall, and it seems honest to me to publicly announce this. And to announce the fact that this is the last week when I do this show until the elections are held,” said Anca Alexandrescu, in her show.
Anca Alexandrescu enters the race for the Capital City Hall. The director made the announcement with tears in her eyes, live
“I'm not going to cheat in this campaign. I want to run an honest campaign, among the people. I'm not going to make pizza, I'm not competing with Mr. Drula. I've been cooking for years and I've been cooking every day. I'm not even going to dance with Mr. Baluța. I'm not going to make a fool of myself just to get votes. With huge posters. With money thrown away. I don't even have this money. (…) “I didn't steal. I did absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Everywhere I went I did everything I could for the benefit of the people,” she added with tears in her eyes while on air.
Also on Tuesday, the social democrats voted for Daniel Băluță, the mayor of Sector 4, as a candidate for the position of general mayor of Bucharest. There was also a vote for the candidacy of Marcel Ciolacu for the presidency of CJ Buzău. Last week, the coalition established that the elections for the Capital City Hall will take place on December 7.
Meeting at PSD. Daniel Băluță appointed, with unanimity of votes, as a candidate for the Capital City Hall / Vote and for Marcel Ciolacu, candidate for the Buzău County Council. Who abstained
Unlike the vote for Băluță's candidacy, Ciolacu was not appointed unanimously. There was only one abstention – that of Paul Stănescu. He was number two in the party – general secretary – during Marcel Ciolacu's leadership, a position he still holds today.
So far, the current PSD mayor of District 4, Daniel Băluță, the PNL mayor of District 6, Ciprian Ciucu, USR deputy Cătălin Drula, CGMB councilor Ana Ciceală from the SENS party, former MEP Vlad Gheorghe from the DREPT party, environmental activist Dan Trifu and Alexandru Zidaru have announced their candidacies for the Capital City Hall. What do the polls say?
A survey carried out by Avangarde and published on Sunday indicates a close race for the Capital City Hall, with the first four candidates for the partial local elections on December 7 being within a range of only nine percent. According to the sociological research, the PSD mayor of sector 4, Daniel Băluță (25%) and the PNL mayor of sector 6, Ciprian Ciucu (23%) are currently in the first places in the preferences of Bucharest residents.
In third place is the USR candidate, Cătălin Drula, with 18%, closely followed by independent Anca Alexandrescu, credited with 16%.
A CURS survey from October 19 also credited Daniel Băluță, the current PSD mayor of District 4, with the same percentage of 25% in the first place in voting intentions. Cătălin Drula (USR) and Ciprian Ciucu (PNL) were tied for second place, each with 18%. Anca Alexandrescu was credited with 10%.
