The Superliga continues to produce big surprises, and the almost unreal ranking at the end of the regular season tour says it all. Botoșani and Rapidul go hand in hand in the fight for supremacy, while FCSB and CFR Cluj are unrecognizable. The time has come to officially open the voting procedure for GSP.ro readers, who will choose, once again, “Player of the month” and “Coach of the month” for October 2025.

The “Best” column returns after a new month full of matches in the Super League, in the European cups, for FCSB and the University of Craiova and in the duels of the national team in the preliminaries of next year's World Championship, scheduled in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

In addition to the shock scores from the domestic competition, the inspired changes of coaches and the decisive goals that produced the surprises of the month, the time has come to open the online voting procedures for “October Player of the Month” and “October Coach of the Month”, where GSP.ro readers can choose their favorites!

October 2025 Player of the Month – nominations

Gazeta nominated 5 footballers for the “October Player of the Month” trophy:

  • Alexandru Dobre (Rapid). The warrior voice from Giulesti and the leader of Rapid on the field, Alex showed his class again. His contributions kept Giulești in the top of the Superliga. A “double” with Farul and a goal with Slobozia, all in Grant, are the achievements of Dobre, who dreams both of the title of champion of Romania and the “golden ice” of the domestic championship.
  • Giannis Anestis (FC Botosani). “When everyone gives up, that's why he's there”, is how Leo Grozavu characterized the 34-year-old Greek goalkeeper. His saving and spectacular interventions in October turned the Moldovan team into a surprise leader of the Superliga. Starting and integral player in all the matches in October, Anestis saved his team in the most difficult moments.
  • Marton Eppel (Csikszereda). After starting the season with four consecutive defeats, the Hammers are showing signs of adapting to the pressure and value of the Super League. October has been a good one with two wins and two draws and the 34-year-old striker has scored three times. His goals came in the matches against CFR Cluj, Hermannstadt and Petrolul, Eppel being twice the man with the best numbers for the newly promoted team.
  • Andrezinho (Steel). In the two wins from three matches, the Portuguese Andrezinho was always up to the task, leaving his “signature” on the game of the formation prepared by Laszlo Balint. He scored a goal and provided a decisive assist in the decisive 4-0 success with Metaloglobus, and then scored again in the Arad clash with UTA. His developments contributed to maintaining the Galatians, at the end of the month, in the top six of the championship.
  • Adi Chică-Roșa (Oil). Oil hit the coals harder in October, but recovered from a series of losses. And Chică-Roşa had an important role in the return of the “wolves”. He brought victory with the decisive goal in the match against FC Argeș (1-0), then had a consistent evolution against CFR, putting Kurt Zouma to work, like in a marathon. The month ended with another success, in the tie with Csikszereda, when he was the best player of Prahoven.

The preliminary list also included: Joao Lameira (Oțelul), Daniel Bîrligea (FCSB), Claudiu Petrila (Rapid) and Valentin Robu (Metalul Buzău).

Coach of the month October 2025 – nominations

Gazeta nominated 3 technicians for the “October Coach of the Month” trophy:

  • Constantin Gâlcă (Rapid). He dared to take over a team with claims and with many interferences, including from the lawn, but he did his job and is in the top, with the same number of points as the Superliga leader, Botoșani. An October without defeat, with three victories that bring much-desired peace to Giulesti: 3-1 against Farul, 2-0 against Dinamo and 4-1 against Unirea Slobozia. Results that make sprinters dream of the title of champion.
  • Leo Grozavu (FC Botosani). The current leader in the Superliga, the 58-year-old technician fully confirms the Romanian proverb: “The wise man keeps silent and acts”. A perfect October, with consecutive wins in the Super League: 2-1 against UTA Arad, 2-0 against U Cluj and 2-0 against Hermannstadt. An unexpected development for the Moldovan team, which has never tasted defeat since August 4, when it lost 1-2 in Giulesti, against Rapid.
  • Eugen Neagoe (Oil). He took over the team on the fly and immediately made his mark as a highly experienced technician. After five consecutive defeats, many tensions and a dressing room close to implosion, Neagoe brought back the smile on the faces of Ploiešte residents. Two consecutive victories, 1-0 with FC Argeș and 1-0 with CFR Cluj, plus the draw, 1-1 with Csikszereda, are the results that make “Geană” hope.

The preliminary list also included: Mihai Teja (Metaloglobus), Laszlo Balint (Oțelul), Robert Ilyes (Csikszereda), Florin Maxim (Corvinul Hunedoara) and Ovidiu Burcă (Sepsi).
