A young mother from Vaslui, who died a few days ago in a hospital in Iasi, was led on Sunday, October 26, on the last road. Her story, a disturbing one, grieved an entire community.

Alina Bahrim was 29 years old and had a beautiful family. She passed away on a bed in the “Sfântul Spiridon” Hospital in Iasi, where she had entered with the intention of fighting with all her might for her life, according to Vremea noua. The tragedy mourned the Vasluian community of Chersăcosu.

The young woman suffered from an autoimmune disease at the level of the thyroid gland since childhood, and she had also been diagnosed with asthma for several years.

Although the doctors forbade her to get pregnant, she took the associated risks in order to give birth to a healthy baby girl in 2017.

After the birth, the young woman's problems worsened, and on October 20, she was admitted to the “Sfântul Spiridon” hospital in Iasi.

“It was treated with all available means”

She was going to be operated on, but two cardiac arrests, only a few days apart, meant that the doctors could not do anything for her.

“The patient was hospitalized since October 20 in Surgery IV, with a view to an intervention for Basedow's disease. He had asthma for several years and was under treatment. He did not receive anesthesia; the surgical intervention was not initiated, because the patient had an asthma attack, status asmoticus, with cardio-respiratory arrest in the salon. She was resuscitated for 30 minutes. The heart resumed its activity, but remained in a coma in Intensive Care, intubated, mechanically ventilated for several days. She was treated with all available means, together with the neurologist. Unfortunately, he did not recover, he went into cardiac arrest again and did not respond to resuscitation maneuvers”Prof. Dr. Diana Cimpoeșu, spokesperson for the “St. Spiridon” Iasi County Emergency Clinical Hospital, told the Iași press.

Doctors say that Alina had suffered a cardiac arrest when she was only 19 years old.

“The patient had an asthmatic lung – difficult to control asthma attacks“, Prof. Dr. Diana Cimpoeșu also said.

On Sunday, the community of Chersăcosu led Alina on the last road, according to Vremea Nouă.

“I have never seen so many people at a funeral in our village. They came from the whole commune, from Husi, from everywhere. It was a pain from which we have to learn a lot. Your soul breaks for your husband, for your child, left alone. The fact that she gave birth to a little girl, putting the child's life above her life, says a lot about her ability to sacrifice herself for her loved ones,” someone testified.
