PSD's interim president, Sorin Grindeanu, said on Antena 1 on Monday that in Tuesday's meeting the party will formally nominate Daniel Băluță as a candidate for the Capital City Hall elections.

“Obviously, Daniel will be the candidate. Tomorrow we will do the questions as per the book so that we don't have any slips”, said Grindeanu, during the “Observator” show.

Asked if “madness will begin” in this campaign, considering that three of the four coalition parties will have their own candidate in the December 7 elections, the PSD leader replied: “I hope not.”

“I want this campaign to be about the people of Bucharest and the projects of Bucharest, beyond the political affiliation of Daniel Băluță, Cătălin Drula or, I don't know, Ciucu. I know it's hard, I know it's a slightly utopian wish, but I want us to talk about projects, I want us to talk about Bucharest. I want Daniel, Ciprian and Cătălin to talk about the administration, about what they did, not about stories, (but) about what they have done and what they want to do for the people of Bucharest”, declared Sorin Grindeanu.

He claims that “PSD is trying to impose even in the coalition” an “approach of this type”.

“I want it to be embraced by the other coalition partners, because otherwise, the people of Bucharest lose. Maybe Daniel wins, I don't know, or maybe Ciprian Ciucu or Anca Alexandrescu wins, but if we win in a circus area where nothing is chosen, where the people of Bucharest get nothing, where important projects are not done, I think everyone loses. We have to talk about people, we have to talk why was it done”, the PSD leader continued.

Sorin Grindeanu said that Daniel Băluță, currently the mayor of Sector 4, “has achievements behind him, he has done a lot of things in Sector 4”.

“He can do things – and this is verifiable – for all of Bucharest, not just for District 4,” concluded the PSD interim president.
