Several trade union confederations will protest in front of the Government on Wednesday

Four trade union confederations announce a joint protest action for Wednesday, October 29, in front of the Government. According to them, “austerity measures affected all professional categories, while those in power and privileged in political institutions did not feel any cut”.

On Monday, October 27, the Confederation of Democratic Trade Unions in Romania (CSDR), the National Trade Union Confederation Cartel ALFA, CNSLR-Frătia and the Meridian National Trade Union Confederation are organizing a press conference to present a joint protest action.
The leaders of the mentioned trade union confederations will present the main demands of the workers in Romania and will provide information regarding the organization of the protest, in the context of major social and economic problems.
The protest will take place on Wednesday, October 29, in front of the Government.
“We call for the collective mobilization of all workers, pensioners, young people and all those who no longer accept injustice, inequity and contempt for those who work honestly in this country!
We will take to the streets to show that we no longer accept to be victims of a system that promotes austerity as a sign of the incompetence and lack of responsibility of those in power. It is time to make our claims heard and to demand concrete, fair and immediate measures to protect workers”the confederations sent, a few days later.
Unions say that “austerity measures they affected all professional categories, while those in power and privileges in political institutions did not feel any cut”.
The trade unionists demand, among other things:
- A decent minimum wage and decent pensions
- Disregarding the legal and contractual rights of workers
- Fair charging
- Stopping austerity measures
- Protecting jobs in the public administration – investments, not unemployment
- Health and social assistance
- Repeal of anti-education measures
- Consolidation of the forestry sector
- Saving the Romanian economic sector through access to affordable and competitive energy
- Stop the sale of state companies
- Restoring the railway infrastructure, solving the chronic underfunding of the system
- Referendum for the new Defense Law.
