Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, visiting Rome on Monday, expressed the opinion that US President Donald Trump is wrong about Vladimir Putin. Orban met with Pope Leo XIV and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Orban told the Italian daily newspapers “Il Messaggero” and “La Repubblica”: “The European Union doesn't matter. Donald Trump is wrong about Putin. I will go to him to get him to lift sanctions from Russia.”
The Hungarian Prime Minister stated: “We have entrusted the Americans and Russians with the ability to end the war. Unfortunately, we have no role. The European Union is completely out of the game when it comes to building its future security and future relations between Russians and Ukrainians.”
Viktor Orban added: “I will soon be with Trump to solve the problem of oil sanctions.”
He emphasized that Hungary is very dependent on Russian gas and oil. (PAP)
