An Italian court agreed to extradite a Ukrainian suspected of the Nord Stream attack to Germany

49-year-old H. was detained in August near Rimini, where he was on vacation with his family. He claims that he had nothing to do with the sabotage.

Who is the suspect in this case?

What are the charges against Serhiy K.?

When was the Ukrainian citizen detained?

What action does the man's lawyer take?

Italian courts of subsequent instances agreed to hand over the man to Germany, which wants to sue him for damaging the pipeline. The Italian Supreme Court (Cassation) then blocked the approval previously given by the appellate court and sent the case back for further consideration.

The Bologna court agreed for the second time to hand over the Ukrainian to Germany, and his lawyer Nicola Canestrini announced he would appeal this decision again, Ansa reported.

German media reported earlier that K. was the organizer of the attack on the Russian-German Nord Stream, and not – as previously believed – one of its coordinators. Investigators claim that divers attached at least four explosives to the threads of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. Later, they were to be picked up by the driver and taken to Ukraine.
