The largest wooden office building is being built in Środa Wielkopolski near Poznań.

The investment covers a plot of over 10 hectares. A state-of-the-art factory is being built on the site, consisting of a production hall, logistics space with a high-bay warehouse and a three-story office building with a Competence Training Center and a showroom. This last element is implemented using CLT technology.
Cross-laminated timber is a modern construction material developed in the early 1990s, which has gained enormous popularity around the world in recent years. We wrote about the environmentally friendly CLT technology, among others: in this article.
It is characterized by exceptional durability, dimensional stability and excellent thermal and acoustic properties. It is also characterized by high fire resistance and load-bearing capacity. In Western Europe, the USA and Australia, biodegradable CLT successfully competes with steel, brick and concrete, and the wood needed for its production comes from certified afforestation.
Green construction and the highest standards
The entire complex will cover 52,400 sq m of usable space. The facility will be equipped with systems and devices that meet the most stringent energy and environmental standards, confirmed BREEAM certificate — the world's leading building sustainability rating system. Importantly, no CLT building in Poland has yet passed this demanding certification.
The office building with a massive wood structure will occupy approximately 6,000 square meters of usable space, and a total of 2,125 cubic meters was used for its construction. KLH CLT and BSH glued timber. Wood binds carbon dioxide in the photosynthesis process, storing it in its biomass, thanks to which CLT creates a natural CO2 store, reducing its emissions into the atmosphere. The use of this technology instead of reinforced concrete also allowed us to reduce future energy consumption.
Innovative solutions and comfort of work
The project uses the synergistic properties of wood and reinforced concrete, creating a modern hybrid structure. Wood provides lightness, flexibility and insulation, while reinforced concrete guarantees strength and durability. Also applied innovative engineering solutions, such as a wooden frame structure loaded with a crane, ceilings made of CLT boards made of C24 spruce wood, or columns and beams made of glued wood GL24c.
The aesthetics of wood create a pleasant and healthy working environment. On the ground floor there will be a Competence Training Center with a showroom with machines that generate noise, but thanks to the solutions used, it was reduced from 90 to 30 decibels, ensuring comfortable office work on the upper floor.
— The new factory will be home to the most modern Competence Training Center in Eastern Europe. In addition, our goal is to create an excellent working environment for our employees. Undoubtedly, the HOMAG Polska office building, unique in the country, will be a place where modern architecture harmonizes with nature, creating ideal working conditions for those who value innovative and sustainable solutions from the leaders of the wood industry. The innovative office and industrial facility is a milestone for CLT construction in Poland – summarizes the member of the Management Board of HOMAG Polska, managing director, Michał Piłat.
HOMAG Polska is a representative of the world leader in the field of integrated woodworking solutions, owning 30 percent. shares in the global market and employing approximately 7,000 employees around the world.
