“…The experimental station has been engaged in the selection of varieties and agricultural technology of this crop for several years. As a result, it was found that the variety “Early Maturing No. 1” ripens well in our climate and is highly productive. This year, its yield was 34 centners of grain per hectare of high quality and very valuable straw for livestock feed – about 58 centners per hectare. Dry soil rice grows well on new (virgin) lands, carefully cultivated.

In the conditions of our region, where a significant area of virgin land is developed annually, dry rice can find significant distribution.”

“In the third quarter, with a target of 130 thousand rubles, 173 thousand were disbursed. The equipment in the silo building, the pre-mix shop, the grain warehouse and the receiving railway facility was fully installed. Of course, there is still a lot to be finished here before the launch, to be tested at idle speed, to receive the first compound feed. The adjusters are now doing this. With them are six workers from among the future service personnel plant At the same time, these people become familiar with the equipment that they will soon use.

Much attention is paid to labor organization at the site. Operational planning meetings are held twice a day, at which the amount of work for the day is outlined and the results of its implementation are summed up.”

The regional committee bureau adopted a resolution “On preparations for the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Jewish folk writer Sholom Aleichem.”

Despite the fact that Sholom Aleichem was never in our area, we remember and honor him, considering him “one of our own.” The central street of the city of Birobidzhan has been named after Sholom Aleichem since 1946.

On September 10, 2004, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the JAO in Birobidzhan, a monument to the writer was erected in the park where Sholom Aleichem Street begins. The author of the sculpture is V. Tsap.

The main library of the Jewish Autonomous Region bears his name. It was assigned to her on December 16, 1940 in order to perpetuate the memory of the Jewish writer by the regional Council of Workers' Deputies.

On the ground floor of the regional library there is an exhibition of (0+) illustrations to the works of Sholom Aleichem, made by Birobidzhan artists O. Eskin and M. Chernis.

On November 24, 2011, the main university of the region (formerly the pedagogical institute) was renamed “Sholom Aleichem State University of the Amur Region”.

Sholom Aleichem wrote about the life of ordinary Jews. And the Birobidzhan people see themselves, their ancestors, old Birobidzhan in his stories, which is why they love him so much here.
