The Secretary General of the PSD, Senator from Olt Paul Stănescu, declared on Friday, in Slatina, regarding the fact that he will no longer run for a position in the central leadership of the party, that “generations are changing” and he will continue to stay in the party and do politics, reports Agerpres.

Paul Stănescu stated that he appreciates the motion with which the interim president of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu is running and added that “things are not very good for PSD at this time”.

“This is normality, a motion that I appreciate, led by Sorin Grindeanu, with Marius (Oprescu), with Claudiu Manda, with all the other colleagues. Generations are changing, as I said during the conference, a generation – they are young people, but Sorin and Marius and Claudiu are also people who have been in the Social Democratic Party for over 25 years. What makes me the happiest is that the party has remained united”, he said Stanescu.

Paul Stănescu claimed that he is part of a different generation, and the management team proposed by Sorin Grindeanu is a balanced one, with representation in most organizations.

“I was telling them in the conference, Emil Cioran – someone asked him, when he was older: teacher, what are you doing? What did Cioran answer? I kill time, but time also kills me. We understand each other perfectly, like two assassins. I am a different generation, with open arms, this does not mean that I close my eyes, this means that I will be with the Social Democratic Party, that you can do politics without having a position in the Social Democratic Party. And I am very happy great that Sorin Grindeanu, the president of the party, made a team with political people from most organizations”, added Stănescu.

Grindeanu: “Nea Paul decided to take a step back”

Present at the press conference together with Sorin Grindeanu and Olt PSD president Marius Oprescu, Sorin Grindeanu emphasized that Stănescu was the one who decided to propose MEP Claudiu Manda for the post of general secretary.

“Nea Paul was during this period the balance in the Social Democratic Party and not since she held the position of general secretary, but since she came to Bucharest as a senator, vice-president and represented balance and will represent in the future, regardless of the position that Paul Stănescu will have. The fact that 5 years ago I came to a county conference here, when nea Paul decided to take a step back from the organization, but to deal exclusively with the general secretariat and leave Marius, this says and reinforces what Paul has done now, because he decided that whoever should follow must also come from this area and he decided to take a step back from the position of general secretary and Claudiu Manda to become general secretary”, declared Sorin Grindeanu.

The PSD Olt organization decided on Friday, in an extraordinary county conference, to support Sorin Grindeanu for the position of party president and to support the president of the county organization, Marius Oprescu, for the position of first vice-president.
