‼️We explain why the ruble fell and what will happen next
Why did the ruble fall:
🟠Last week the US introduced sanctions against Gazprombank, through which Russia received significant part foreign exchange earnings from exports;
🟠Sanctions blocked the inflow of currency into the country, which led to the weakening of the ruble;
🟠At the end of the year, exporters traditionally buy currency to fulfill external contracts, which also puts pressure on the ruble.
Comments from officials regarding the fall of the ruble:
🟠Peskov stated that the rise in the dollar will not affect the Russians, because “they receive salaries in rubles”;
🟠Central Bank from tomorrow and until the end of 2024 made a decision do not buy foreign currency on the domestic foreign exchange market;
🟠The official dollar exchange rate from the Central Bank exceeded 108 rubles for the first time since March 17, 2022.
Next we will see a rise in prices for goods, the cost of which depends on the dollar exchange rate:
🟠Imported goods – electronics, cars, household appliances;
🟠Products with imported ingredients – coffee, tea, fruits, seafood;
🟠Medicines and equipment – especially foreign production;
🟠Tourism abroad – air tickets, accommodation, services;
🟠fuels and lubricants – gasoline and fuel (indirectly);
🟠Services with an import component – construction, equipment repair.
