Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, described as “shameful” the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which on Wednesday stated that Israel has an obligation to support aid efforts in the Gaza Strip carried out by the UN and its agencies.

– They blame Israel for not cooperating with UN bodies, while they should blame themselves. These bodies have become a breeding ground for terrorists. Take UNRWA as an example, an organization that has supported Hamas for years, Danon said.
In turn, Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it categorically rejects the ICJ ruling and described it as “political action.”
“The opinion of the highest UN tribunal is another attempt to impose political measures on Israel under the guise of international law,” wrote Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Oren Marmorstein on the X platform.
On Wednesday, the ICJ ruled in The Hague that Israel has an obligation to support aid efforts in the Gaza Strip carried out by the UN and its entities, including the Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The 11 members of the Court found that Israel had not adequately substantiated its claims that a significant number of UNRWA employees were members of Hamas.
The ICJ also ruled that Israel cannot use starvation in the Gaza Strip as a method of waging war.
The ICJ ruling in this case is an advisory opinion and has no binding force. (PAP)
