SuperLiga: Mihai Stoica announces what goal FCSB has this season: “We've been to Everest, now we're in the Mariana Trench”

Mihai Stoica, the president of the Board of Directors of the FCSB club, spoke about the objective of the title champion of Romania, after the results below expectations recorded in the first 13 stages.

FCSB has accumulated only 13 points and is in 12th place, 15 points behind the leader FC Botoșani and six points below Oțelul Galați, the team in 6th place, the last position that ensures presence in the play-offs.

Mihai Stoica, about FCSB's objective: “To reach the European cups”

“For us, at this moment, the objective is to reach the European Cups, which would be the first year since 2003 when we would not be in the European Cups. It is certainly a record, apart from the big clubs that are permanently invited. We are the only team that plays in the European Cups every year.

It is very possible, if you finish in first place in the play-out, if you play the play-off, you have a better chance to play in the European cups… If you finish fifth or sixth, you are for nothing, but fourth place can also be for nothing (no – in the play-off).

Naturally, we want to play in the play-offs, but when Metaloglobus, Pitesti, Slobozia, Farul beat you, when you don't win with Sibiu at home, when you don't win at Csikszereda, it means you have big problems”, said Mihai Stoica, according to orangesport.ro.

The FCSB general manager compared the situation this season with the previous one, when the team reached the Europa League round of 16.

“It's a lamentable performance, a worldwide shame, that we led Csikzereda and Metaloglobus and scored a point. At Clinceni, the pitch was very good, the changing rooms were renovated, everything was superlative.

We were unrecognizable. To lead from nothing, that apart from Bîrligea's occasion I didn't have, but to enter with an advantage, in a few minutes to lose the advantage and to be also led is embarrassing.
