Arne Slot won on Wednesday night with Liverpool, after four consecutive defeats. It was 5-1 in the Champions League match with Eintracht Frankfurt. However, the coach is left with a bitter taste after the game, and that's because an important player got injured.
Dutch international Jeremie Frimpong started against Eintracht Frankfurt (5-1) but had to leave the field after just 19 minutes due to a hamstring injury. Slot estimates that he will be without the services of the Dutchman for several weeks. The coach is also worried about Alexander Isak's situation.
He could not continue the game after the break. “He barely practiced before coming here and we prepared him step by step,” Slot said after the game. Isak arrived from Newcastle United last summer but has yet to impress.
Arne Slot: “Jeremie Frimpong will be unavailable for a few weeks”
The busy calendar gives him headaches. “You get the feeling that there has to come a point where he can play twice a week. The first time we try, he has to leave the field immediately. But hopefully it's not that bad,” Slot added.
He is unhappy with the overcrowded schedule. “At Liverpool you play every three days. We've already had to play three times in seven days this season, which is difficult without proper preparation.”
In two days, Liverpool already have their next game scheduled. The team will play away against Brentford in the Premier League. Slot will not be able to count on Frimpong in this game. He will be out for weeks with a hamstring injury.
“I expect Frimpong to be out for a few weeks with this new injury”, said Slot, according to sportnieuws.nl.
This could also have consequences for the Dutch national team. The Batavians will be back in action next month. On November 14, Poland will be the opponent, and three days later the World Cup qualification campaign will end against Lithuania.

Liverpool fans will miss Frimpong. Especially since he was a substitute for Mohamed Salah against Manchester United. Supporters have not been happy with the striker lately. That would be too “selfish”.
Criticism of the Egyptian came in particular after, in the match against Frankfurt, he did not care about Florian Wirtz, who was in a good position to score. “Salah needs to stop this selfish nonsense,” was heard on social media. Fans are also calling for him not to start again against Brentford.
