The Commission sets out seven specific actions to be implemented in close cooperation with Member States in order to urgently reduce energy prices, the EC said on Tuesday. She also announced actions to reduce electricity taxes.

“Building on the Affordable Energy Action Plan presented at the very beginning of the term, the Commission is now setting out 7 specific actions to be implemented in close cooperation with Member States to urgently reduce energy prices,” the EC wrote on the website.
She added that these actions include making full use of the strengthened state aid framework, maximizing the use of EU cohesion funds, focusing on cross-border network connections and network infrastructure, and further diversifying gas supplies.
“Another key sustaining factor high energy prices in Europe are taxes, especially on electricity. Taxes can account for up to a third of your energy bill. Reducing them can bring real and immediate benefits, especially for energy-intensive industries and sensitive consumers. The Commission will soon issue recommendations and propose additional assistance in reducing taxation on energy bills,” the Commission added. (PAP Biznes)
