The Volkswagen Poznań factory in Września (VWP) will be equipped with two new production halls. The next generation of the fully electric Crafter model will be produced in the expanded plant.


The investment is scheduled to be completed in 2027. The company has not yet disclosed its value. The factory in Września was established in 2016 and is one of the most modern in Europe. Volkswagen Poznań is the only one in the world responsible for the construction of the Caddy, Crafter models and the sister model MAN TGE.
According to PAP's findings, the expansion of the plant in Września will not result in a significant increase in employment, but will contribute to securing existing jobs. Currently, the company employs approximately 9,000 people. people.
Stefan Mecha, president of the management board of the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand, said that two new production halls will be built as part of the planned electrification of the brand's product range. The plant will be expanded with a body construction hall and a battery warehouse, adapted to the production requirements of the new generation of the electric Crafter.
– Expanding production with the next generation of our fully electric Crafter model is the next logical step in the electrification of our offer. This new generation of electric vehicles will further strengthen our position in the commercial vehicle segment, he said.
Currently, the company already has all the permits necessary to start the investment. The cornerstone laying ceremony is scheduled for November. Advanced construction works are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of next year and are expected to be completed in 2027.
“The decision to expand the plant in Września is of strategic importance for the entire company. It is also a key step towards electromobility at Volkswagen Poznań. We are strengthening our position as a manufacturer of modern delivery vehicles and increasing employment security in the future,” said Stefanie Hegels, president of VWP.
The area of the entire plant in Września is approximately 220 ha. The factory uses over 1.3 thousand in production. robots and quality systems based on artificial intelligence. Currently, VWP employs approximately 9,000 people. employees, which makes the company the largest employer in Greater Poland.
The plant in Września, like all other Volkswagen plants in Poland, is powered exclusively by green energy. Additionally, it is supplied with energy from its own photovoltaic farm – in good weather conditions it is 100% capable. provide the energy necessary for the operation of the factory. (PAP)
