Resident of Krasnoyarsk demands compensation through the court for an error in a foreign passport, which prevented her from going on vacation.

As the prosecutor's office said, the teacher and her children were going to Thailand, bought tickets and booked a hotel. But at the Krasnoyarsk airport, during control it turned out that the woman’s passport was allowed typo: one wrong digit in the document number. As a result, travel abroad was prohibited and the family suffered financial losses for the failed trip.

“An employee was found guilty of a ‘digital misunderstanding’ on migration issues of police department No. 3 of the MU Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Krasnoyarsk”who once issued this ill-fated passport. A request was sent to the department with a demand to look into it and prevent similar mistakes in the future. After the intervention of the prosecutor’s office, the woman was quickly issued and issued a new document,” the department said.

Now Krasnoyarsk is trying through the court to recover from the police department all expenses incurred, as well as compensation for ruined vacation and moral distress. The prosecutor's office continues to monitor the situation and monitor the progress of the civil case.
