Plans for the restoration of the Krasnoyarsk Organ Hall had to be adjusted due to an archaeological discovery.
During the state historical and cultural examination, carried out in the summer, experts made four pits and discovered valuable artifacts. Among the finds are fragments of ceramic vessels and animal bones belonging to the cultural layer of the 18th – early 20th centuries.
The discovered site, called “Historical-2”, must now be investigated by archaeologists, reports City Prima. According to experts, it is impossible to begin restoration work until rescue excavations are carried out.
Let us remind you that the building was included in the list of objects that need to be reconstructed for the city’s anniversary in 2028. The government approved the training program at the end of last year.
The organ hall is located in the church building, built in 1911 by the architect Vladimir Sokolovsky. During Soviet times, the bell towers were cut down and the statue above the entrance was removed. The building housed a radio committee, and later a radio and television recording studio. In the 1970s the building was restored, and in In 1982, an organ was ordered for the hall from the Czech factory Rieger-Kloss. Like many other Russian cities, Krasnoyarsk acquired a unique instrument thanks to Harry Grodberg (at that time – deputy chairman of the Council for Organ Construction under the USSR Ministry of Culture). The organ was delivered and installed in 1983. The first concert took place in December of the same year, and Harry Grodberg himself played at it.
Today, the Organ Hall in Krasnoyarsk is very popular among residents of the region, the Ministry of Culture notes. Last year alone, concerts in the Organ Hall attracted about 25,000 spectators.
