Registered Society of Hunters and Fishers. The organization is a voluntary, self-governing, non-profit formation created on the initiative of citizens operating in the territory of the Jewish Autonomous Region.
The main objectives of the society are the organization and management of hunting and fishing, carrying out work on the protection, reproduction and rational use of game animals, birds and fish.
The Society of Hunters and Fishermen of the Jewish Autonomous Region received a high rating based on the results of its activities in 2009; the board of the association “Rosohotrybolovsoyuz” awarded it second place among related organizations of the Far Eastern Federal District. The activities of the society were assessed not by how much and what was caught in the hunting grounds, but primarily by what was done to increase the number of hunting resources, how effective measures to combat poaching are, what kind of help wild animals receive in winter, how objectively accounting work is carried out in the territories assigned to the societies.

In the newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) of 1936, on October 21, information was posted that A feature film about the Jewish Autonomous Region “Seekers of Happiness” (12+) is being shown on screens across the country..
Here's how the Birobidzhan Star newspaper wrote about it: “The film seems to be an illustration of the well-known government decree of August 29, 1936 on the Soviet, economic and cultural construction of the Jewish Autonomous Region in the Far East, especially in the part where it says: “For the first time in the history of the Jewish people, their ardent desire to create their homeland, to create their national statehood has come true.” The theme contained in the word “Birobidzhan” is extremely huge, complex and multifaceted. The director of the film, director Korsh, in generalized artistic images touched upon only a part of a long theme, the beginning of its development. It turned out well.
The film interestingly shows how Jews, “people of the air”, squeezed into the grip of the ghetto, driven into the Pale of Settlement under tsarism, are being remade in the conditions of Soviet reality, freeing themselves from the stinking burden of small-town prejudices and huckster psychology, into honest, conscious workers, builders of a joyful, happy life.
The main roles in the film are performed perfectly.
The film “Seekers of Happiness” reflected the first years, the beginning of the development of our region. The film tells about the affairs of bygone days. Today's life in the Jewish Autonomous Region is far ahead of the events shown in “Seekers of Happiness”; it is more colorful and deeper than what was captured by screenwriters Kobets and Zeltser.
We expect from filmmakers an even more artistic, vibrant and ideologically rich film on the huge, exciting topic of “Birobidzhan”.
