An Ipsos survey carried out for the Observator show from Antena 1 shows that only 3% of Romanians trust politicians. At the same time, when asked about the best president that Romania has had, the answer “none” met with 38% of the options, followed by Nicolae Ceaușescu, with 27%.

The results were presented in an interview given by the president Nicușor Dan.

The Ipsos survey shows a very low level of trust in politicians, at just 3%, with another 82% saying they do not trust them. “The figure is the result of many years of politics done in a certain way in which people saw that many entered politics to solve their personal problems”, commented Nicușor Dan.

Only 6% of those surveyed trust the current government, with another 76% saying they don't. The president attributed the result to the fact that the population was primarily affected by the measures taken by the cabinet in office, the decisions related to reducing the benefits of dignitaries being taken later, and some measures of this type are still to be adopted.

To the question “Do you trust the Prime Minister?”, 74% answered “No”, the percentage of positive answers being only 17%

Nicușor Dan said that the percentages could change as the positive results of the government appear. He gave the example of reducing tax evasion, saying that reducing it by 20% in a year would be a result that would give confidence to the population.

“In the ANAF computerization process, which is only in stage 2 out of 9, it allowed ANAF to automatically see some behaviors that sent tax inspectors directly to companies that the software said might be problems,” said the head of state.

Regarding trust in the president, the results were 65% “No” and 15% “Yes”.

“I look at the 30 percent who are neither yes nor no, and they are people who still credit the president, who are still waiting to see the results of the president on the issues that they are facing. I think the result is correct. Things have gone in a certain direction for so long, that it takes time to change it now”, believes Nicușor Dan.

To the question “who was the best president of Romania?”, the answers were as follows: 38% – none, 27% – Nicolae Ceaușescu, 19% – Traian Băsescu, 8% – Emil Constantinescu, 4% – Klaus Iohannis and 3% – Ion Iliescu.

“I think that people saw during the Nicolae Ceaușescu period a country plan that they did not see during the entire prolonged transition”, said Nicușor Dan.

From this perspective, the president said that Romania must develop an economic vision, in which to propose the fields it wants to develop in the next 10-15 years. “We have to say that in 5-10-15 years we will have such a share in the GDP of these sectors, instead of subsidies for everything and nothing”, concluded Nicușor Dan.
