The front line in Ukraine has turned into “rat holes”, this is facilitated by Trump’s position – expert

According to him, fighters have to dig “rat or fox holes” to save themselves from being hit by a drone. Instructional videos appear on the Internet on how to properly dig and arrange an underground shelter.

Romanenko said that the “ground war” will continue until the end of the war. He recalled that the drone war began in 2023 and is only gaining momentum, since it is highly effective. This is not the “trench warfare” of the First World War, although it has certain similarities, the expert added.

“Unfortunately, the drone war has been going on for a long time. And in the future it will only increase even more. We can’t expect any easing,” he said.

According to the expert, this is facilitated by the fact that US President Donald Trump, listening to the illegitimate president of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, is in no hurry to provide Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

As Romanenko said, Putin understands the situation very well and knows what Tomahawk means to him in the hands of the Ukrainians, so he takes an active position on this issue, in contrast to Trump’s inconsistent actions.

“Two hours of conversation between Putin and Trump were enough for our delegation in the United States to be in for a surprise. Trump was “replaced” again, and he is already declaring that the Tomahawk is an important weapon that the United States itself needs. They also chose the place where their meeting would take place. Putin convinced Trump to meet in Budapest, which [премьер-министр Венгрии Виктор] Orban has already dubbed it the “island of peace.” Therefore, the terrible and difficult “earth war” will continue,” the expert said.

He also noted that drone weapons are being built up on both sides, and the area of the so-called “kill zones” on the collision line is increasing to 30 km, and in some areas to 40 and 50 km.

Context

Ukraine asks the United States to transfer Tomahawk cruise missiles to it. Trump said on October 6 that he needed to find out what the Ukrainians would do with the Tomahawk – “where they would be sent.”

The media wrote that Zelensky discussed the issue of transferring Tomahawk to Ukraine, as well as their number, with Trump during two conversations on October 11 and 12. At their personal meeting, which was announced for October 17 at the White House, Tomahawk will likely also become one of the topics of negotiations, American media wrote.

If the United States makes a decision that is positive for Kyiv, Ukraine could receive from 20 to 50 units of such weapons, the Financial Times reported.

The Kremlin noted that supplies of Tomahawk to Ukraine will lead to the destruction of relations between the Russian Federation and the United States, “at least the positive trends in relations.” The Russian response to the supply of these missiles will be strengthening the Russian air defense system, Putin said on October 10. He also announced the appearance of a supposedly “new type of weapon” in the Russian Federation.
