Two of the greatest athletes of all time met in Portugal. Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic spent a few moments together at a tennis club in Lisbon, where they exchanged symbolic gifts.

At 40, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to impress for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where he remains the leader of the team and a constant source of inspiration for athletes of all disciplines.

On the other hand, 38-year-old Novak Djokovic is considered the greatest tennis player in history, with 24 Grand Slam titles won, an absolute record in men's tennis.

Gift exchange: Cristiano Ronaldo's shirt and Novak Djokovic's racket

During the meeting, Ronaldo presented the Serbian with a T-shirt from Al-Nassr, signed and personalized with the famous number 7, and Djokovic presented the Portuguese with a signed tennis racket, on which he wrote CR7's famous expression – “Siuuu!”.

The pair were snapped chatting casually and the meeting was described as one “between two champions who know what sacrifice and greatness mean in sport”.

Novak Djokovic, inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo

Djokovic has stated on several occasions that he considers Cristiano Ronaldo an example of professionalism and motivation.

Recently, at an event in Riyadh, the Serb said:

“Longevity is one of my biggest motivations. I look up to people like LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo or Tom Brady. It's incredible how far they can go. It inspires me too. I want to see how far I can go.”

Also, in a podcast hosted by Nick Kyrgios, “Nole” compared Ronaldo to Serena Williams and Tom Brady, calling them “role models of discipline and desire to push themselves.”

An admiration that has existed for a long time

It is not the first time that Djokovic has shown his admiration for CR7. In 2018, after a match at the ATP Finals, he said:

“It's great to have a star like Ronaldo in the stands. He's a tennis fan, he used to come to the tournaments in Madrid. He is one of the greatest athletes of the last decade.”
