Inter and Liverpool are negotiating for the loan of Curtis Jones (25 years old), central midfielder, to Cristi Chivu's team. The Italians would also have a permanent transfer option worth 40 million euros.
The two-time Premier League champion is a product of Liverpool's academy and has only played for the Cormorants so far. Not being a definite starter, he could leave this winter.
Close to parting ways with Davide Fratessi, who is in talks with Nottingham Forest, Inter are looking for a replacement. The management of Cristi Chivu's team has stopped at Curtis Jones and the first phase of negotiations is underway, as announced by mercato specialist Fabrizio Romano.

“Inter have requested the loan of Curtis Jones, with a permanent transfer clause of €40m. Initial discussions are taking place today between Inter, Liverpool and the player's representatives, but the final decision rests with the English club.
Inter will only continue negotiations if Davide Frattesi leaves for Nottingham Forest, the decision belongs to the player,” the Italian journalist wrote on social networks.
Curtis Jones has made 20 appearances this season in the Premier League, managing to provide an assist. The Englishman also has 6 games in the Champions League.

Jones has two Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, two FA Super Cups and an FA Cup on his CV. It was debuted by Klopp in 2020.
The English international is used as an inter at Liverpool, in the 4-3-3 system. In Cristi Chivu's formation, he would fulfill the same role, but in a 3-5-2 formula. He would be one of the 3 central midfielders in the 5 line.

Talks for Denzel Dumfries as well
Initial talks have also taken place between the two clubs for a move in the opposite direction. Right defender Denzel Dumfries is wanted by Liverpool, who also have Jeremy Frimpong in the same position, a colleague and rival for a place in the first 11 in the Dutch national team with Dumfries.
However, the Inter player is injured at the moment, so he would not be able to start immediately even if a transfer were to be made.
“Liverpool and Inter have also discussed Dumfries as a potential option for the right-back position, but no offer or advanced negotiations have yet been reached,” Fabrizio Romano pointed out.
