Wojciech Balczun, the Minister of State Assets, announced that he would soon meet with ArcelorMittal representatives and discuss the group's future presence in Europe.


“I am going to have a meeting with Mittal in the near future and we will certainly talk extensively about their plans and strategy of being or not being in Europe, because there are different ways of talking about it,” said Minister WOjciech Balczun during Monday's press conference.
When asked whether Poland might be interested in taking over ArcelorMittal's steel assets, the Minister of State Assets replied:
“For this you need funds and everything depends on your decision. This is a large private corporate structure, it makes autonomous business decisions, we cannot impose anything on them, but entering into a dialogue means looking for solutions.”
ArcelorMittal is the largest steel producer in Poland, accounting for almost 50 percent. national production potential and the largest coke producer in Europe.
