VIDEO. “Why did I sign?” » Devis Epassy, Dinamo's goalkeeper, reveals the key to the move, in an interview for GSP

– Hello, Devis! How do you feel now at Dinamo?
– Very good, very good. With the team, with the teammates, with the staff, with the fans, everything is good and I'm happy to be here.

– At this moment, how is the atmosphere around the team?
– Around the team, the atmosphere is very good. And inside the team the same, but also outside. When we're out with the fans, they congratulate us, they push us to do more, and that's good for us.

– How did your teammates and the Dinamo staff receive you?
– Very good, very good. I don't know everyone here, but there are a lot of French players who speak French, so it was easy for me. But also with all the boys here we are like a family. It doesn't matter if you are French, Romanian or from somewhere else, we are one team. That's good here.

– What convinced you to come to Dinamo and choose the Superliga?
– I think I had many offers. Why did I say “yes” to Dinamo? There are many reasons. I was talking to a few teams before I signed here, but once I talked to Dinamo, my choice was clear, because I lived in Romania before, before I signed with Dinamo. My family is from Romania and for me it was a simple choice to come here, and a big club like Dinamo was perfect for me.

As Dinamo's Cameroonian called Kopic, before the derby with Rapid:

Devis Epassy, the Cameroonian in Dinamo's goal

– Dinamo is in a reconstruction phase, how do you see the current project?
– I followed Dinamo even when I was with the other team. I was watching the Superliga and saw that before there were difficult times for the club, but now it is much better. The president and the staff are doing very good things. They give us everything we need to perform, and that's what we try to do every weekend.

– What impressed you the most at the club?
– I wouldn't say “impressed”, but what I love the most are the fans, because they are always with us. Whether we're playing good or bad, they're always pushing us to do our best.

– But did you feel the pressure of the fans? Their passion?
– The pressure, no, because I don't feel the pressure, but the passion, yes. I received many messages before I signed, after the matches, and my friends outside of football, who know, are Dinamo fans, so they know what it's like to play for Dinamo.

Epassy, about Dinamo's objective: “The next step is to fight for the title”

– You have had good developments so far at Dinamo. What does this mean to you?
– It's my job to do that. I try to do this every weekend. Sometimes it's good, sometimes not, but I'm here to perform as high as I can, and I want to perform every weekend, and I'll give everything I can every weekend to do that.

– What are your personal goals and those of the club?
The objective of the club is to be in the play-offs, and to see the next step, but we have to be in the play-offs. This is the goal of the club, and I have the same goal. The next step is to fight for the title.

– But what do you think is still missing for Dinamo to fight for the title?
– Not many things. I think we are in a good position now, but the season is very long. We have many matches and we cannot say that we are fighting for the title now. It's too early for that.

Dinamo's goalkeeper described Zeljko Kopic, before the “clash” Dinamo – Rapid: “He is a demanding coach”

– A new derby with Rapid is coming up. What do you know about the Dinamo – Rapid rivalry?
– It's a very good derby in Romania, and especially in Bucharest. This derby is very important for the fans, for the club. The week we prepare for the game is the same, but it's a little different because it's different for the fans. That's good. It's good for us.

– How important is this match for the position in the ranking?
I wouldn't say it's crucial now, because it's early. We played 12, 13 games, and we have maybe 40 more games, maybe more. So it's not crucial, but of course for us, for the fans, we want to give our best against Rapid, and see what we do.

– How do you see the Superliga level?
– It's tough. It is of high quality. Every weekend, we can't be sure that we're going to win or that the game will be easy, because it's never an easy game, and you can see that every weekend.

– Is it beyond your expectations?
– No, no, because I was watching before. I had some friends who played in Romania, so I was watching them too. I knew it was hard, but when you play, you realize it's really hard.

– How do you describe Zeljko Kopic, what is it like to work with him?
It's very good. It gives us a lot of energy. He is a demanding coach, because he wants us to work very hard. The week is very hard, but we have to be ready for the weekend. That's why they pressure us like that.
