The coach of the Catalans, Hansi Flick, saw two yellow cards and was sent to the stand by the referee Gil Manzano, in the extra time of the match Barcelona – Girona (2-1).

Hansi Flick is normally suspended for the scheduled El Clasico in Madrid on October 26 after the sending off. But Barcelona decided to appeal against at least one of the two yellow cards seen by coach Hansi Flick in the 90+1 minute.

Gil Manzano claims to have warned Hansi Flick for clapping and making a gesture of disapproval

Marca newspaper revealed what “central” Gil Manzano wrote in his report at the end of the game. “The referee wrote that Hansi Flick received the first yellow card because applauded one of his decisions in protest. “After being warned, he made a gesture of disapproval,” he wrote. This led to a second yellow card and consequently the removal of the coach“, reports the aforementioned publication.

On the other hand, the same Marca notes, the referee did not mention in the match report that Hansi Flick did not go up to the stand after the elimination, but remained in the tunnel, which again represents a deviation from the regulation. Nor that he celebrated Araujo's goal with inappropriate gestures. However, the coach explained that this gesture was not directed at anyone and was just a form of celebration born out of tension.

Hansi Flick: “I don't know why the referee showed me the second yellow card”

“Frenkie was there, I applauded him. My reaction was not directed at the referee. And I don't know why he showed me the second one. The celebration wasn't about anyone, it was about how we won. I was happy. I do not and will not do anything against anyone. I cheered for the players to react,” explained Flick.

On “Montjuic”, Pedri opened the scoring in the 13th minute and everything seemed to be on schedule. But 7 minutes later, the Belgian Axel Witsel restored the tie on the table, 1-1, and this score lasted until the third additional minute, when Frenkie de Jong served Ronald Araujo for 2-1.
