Who are the victims of the explosion in Rahova: a lawyer, a young pregnant woman and a 60-year-old man

The tragedy in Sector 5 of the Capital ended the lives of three people: a lawyer with over 25 years of experience in the Bucharest Bar, a 24-year-old pregnant woman and a man of approximately 60 years, who was blown away by the blast in a neighboring block.

A devastating explosion rocked block 32, in the Rahova neighborhood, sector 5 of the Capital, on Friday morning. The explosion, produced on the upper floors of the building, completely destroyed several apartments and caused huge damage. The balance of the tragedy is shocking: three people died, 15 others were injured.

Among the victims is Vasilica Enache, a lawyer with over 25 years of experience, a member of the Bucharest Bar. The woman lived on the fifth floor of the block, and her law office was registered at the very same address. The apartment was completely destroyed by the blast, according to the observer.

Another victim is a 24-year-old pregnant woman found under the rubble. Her brother, a 17-year-old teenager, was seriously injured and is admitted to the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital, having a cranio-cerebral trauma, sutured wounds and a fractured collarbone.

The first person to lose his life in the explosion is a man in his 60s, who was blown by the blast into the block opposite.

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogbete, announced that a 53-year-old man with extensive burns and multiple traumas was transferred to the University Hospital in Graz, Austria, on a SMURD plane. Of the two children hospitalized at “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital, one has been discharged, and the other is in Intensive Care, in a stable condition.

After the first night after the explosion in Rahova, the teams of the Capital City Hall and DGASMB continue to be present in the field, and at the current time lists have been made of the tenants who are waiting to enter the homes to get things they need. Access to the staircase affected by the explosion is completely prohibited, the structure of the building being damaged. The situation remains under constant monitoring, and the support line 021.9524 is permanently active for any need for help, information or accommodation, Mayor Stelian Bujduveanu announced.

To date, 286 people have been evaluated and psychologically counseled, and 66 people, including three children and 11 elderly people, are staying in partner hotel units. A total of 411 accommodation places are available for those in need.

The teams conducted 200 psychological counseling sessions, and three families received help to recover lost documents. The support line received 118 calls for information and guidance, the mayor said.

Assessment of affected housing continues to identify needs and provide rapid and tailored solutions. All evacuees receive accommodation, counselling, medical support and logistical help to recover documents and essential goods.
