The smell from the kitchen woke up the neighbors – and I just baked potatoes: a hearty casserole in 40 minutes without hassle

If you want something homemade and truly filling for dinner, forget about fast food. This potato, minced meat and cheese casserole will feed the whole family and is almost effortless to make. After it, no one will reach for the refrigerator until the morning.

Ingredients for 4 servings:

Potatoes – 600 g
Minced meat – 300 g
Onion – 1 pc.
Hard cheese – 100 g
Sour cream or yogurt – 3 tbsp. spoons
Egg – 1 pc.
Salt, pepper, paprika – to taste
Vegetable oil – for frying

How to cook:

  • Peel the potatoes and cut into thin slices (can be done by hand or on a grater).
  • Finely chop the onion, fry in a frying pan until transparent, add the minced meat and cook for 7-10 minutes until tender. Salt, pepper, add a pinch of paprika.
  • In a bowl, mix sour cream, egg, salt and pepper.
  • Grease a baking dish with oil. Place a layer of potatoes, half the minced meat on top, more potatoes, the remaining minced meat and finish with potatoes.
  • Pour the sour cream mixture over everything until the liquid covers the top layer.
  • Sprinkle with grated cheese.
  • Bake in the oven at 190°C for 35–40 minutes until the potatoes are soft and the cheese is golden brown.

Serve hot with vegetable salad or just as is.
