Ioan Ovidiu Sabău is no longer the coach of the Cluj University team. The separation took place at the request of the technician, after the defeat suffered on Saturday, 0-2 with FC Botoșani.
U Cluj collected only 14 points in the first 13 stages of the SuperLiga, and Sabău had announced on several occasions that he wanted to leave. He did it after losing his fifth game this season.
“Following the request made this evening by coach Ioan Ovidiu Sabau, FC Universitatea Cluj accepted the amicable termination of the contract.
The decision taken by mutual agreement is to be formalized as soon as possible.
FC Universitatea Cluj thanks Ioan Ovidiu Sabău for the work he has done at the club this term, crowned with the qualification in the Conference League at the end of last season”, announced the Transylvanian group.
After ranking 4th in the previous season, U Cluj was defeated by Ararat Armenia in the 2nd preliminary round of the Conference League, 1-2 overall score, after extra time.
