Ioan Ovidiu Sabău, before the match between U Cluj and the surprising SuperLiga leader: “We want to become an important team again”

Ioan Ovidiu Sabău, the coach of the Universitatea Cluj team, prefaced the duel in the 13th stage with FC Botoșani, the group in the first position in the SuperLiga ranking.

After finishing the previous campaign in fourth place in the play-offs, U Cluj had a more difficult start to the season and is in 10th place, with 14 points after 12 matches. On the other hand, the team prepared by Leo Grozavu surprised everyone and accumulated 25 points.

“There is a match coming up against an opponent with players who have a lot of confidence, a very good rhythm, a well-trained team. They are willing to put into practice what the coach tells them. The organization brought results, which gave them confidence. It is a team that presses high, in 4-3-3, tries to play man-to-man and has a good reaction when recovering the ball.

We prepared the game well and I think we have the ability to impose ourselves and get the three points. We are responsible people and we are trying to find solutions to become an important team again. It's not an easy moment to accept either for us or for the fans.

The people who come permanently will be there, they will be with us, but our attitude matters a lot. I think that, in these moments, they should support us unconditionally”, declared Sabău, at the press conference.

Cluj University – FC Botoșani will be played on Saturday, from 15:00. The match will be broadcast live on Digi Sport 1 and Prima Sport 1.
