The war in Ukraine remains at a standstill, despite many months of negotiations, US Vice President JD Vance said in an interview with the conservative American station Newsmax, a few hours before US President Donald Trump received his Ukrainian counterpart Violodimir Zelenski at the White House, reports AFP, according to News.ro.
“The Russians and the Ukrainians are simply not at a point where they can make a deal,” JD Vance said.

The United States continues to work towards an agreement, he assures.
JD Vance evokes a “fundamental misalignment of expectations” of the two countries.
However, Trump's vice president assures that a solution remains possible.
But in his view, “much more work” is needed to get there.
He welcomes Donald Trump's “energetic” diplomacy which, he believes, “gives more freedom of movement to his teams”, which “does not hesitate to explore unconventional means” in order to move towards an agreement.
After the telephone conversation he had with his Russian counterpart on Thursday, Donald Trump announced that he and Vladimir Putin will have a summit in an “agreed” place – in Budapest, Hungary – “to see if we can end this 'shameful' war between Russia and Ukraine”. The US leader claimed that “great progress has been made following the conversation”.
However, for the Russian president to travel to Budapest, he will either have to enter Ukrainian airspace or pass through EU countries where the ICC mandate applies.
